Why we made our first baby carrier

BabyBjörn has long experience from making baby carriers. We introduced our very first baby carrier in the early 70s. BabyBjörn’s founder, Björn Jakobson, was convinced that newborn babies’ well-being was strengthened by close physical contact with their parents. At the same time Mum and Dad occasionally need their hands free to do other things. Björn combined these needs in the very first BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier.

This year we celebrate our 50th anniversary. To date over thirty million babies have been carried safely and close to their parents in a BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier. And our untiring commitment to making everyday life easier for families with small children holds as much today as it did back then. We design, develop and improve every detail in our products with the same untiring energy. Our close collaboration with parents of young children, independent test institutes and leading paediatricians is as all-important now as then. And we will continue to work in the same spirit. It’s our passion. For closeness and security, nothing beats being carried high up on Mum or Dad’s chest.
