Our safety work. Your peace of mind.
You don’t have time to second-guess safety. Especially not with a baby.
For over 60 years, we’ve worked with medical experts, real families, and independent advisers to build safety into every detail — so it feels simple for you, every day.
Babies don’t keep still. Neither should safety.
You’ve probably heard about the M-position in baby carriers (knees higher than hips) and yes, it’s one great way to support hip-safe positioning. But medical experts agree there isn’t one single “perfect” position for hip development. Healthy development is supported by natural, dynamic movement, as babies wriggle, kick and grow — with hips open and arms and legs free to move.
With decades of experience and ongoing advice from medical experts, including the International Hip Dysplasia Institute, we design according to how babies actually move and behave. That’s our approach to safety: always learning, always adapting — because babies grow fast, and we keep up.
Do you know these safety features?
Every seam and strap has a purpose, designed to help you feel confident, even on little sleep. Here are a few of the thoughtful safety details designed to support everyday moments with your baby.
When you carry
Buckles make a clear, click sound when they’re in place
A two-move release helps prevent little hands from opening buckles
On Baby Carrier Mini and Move, color markers guide correct fastening (red sits next to your heart)
On Baby Carrier Harmony, visible red means the buckle isn’t secured
All our buckles are custom-designed to ensure quality — never off-the-shelf
Center-of-gravity design helps keep baby securely positioned
Stay-connected design keeps baby securely attached when switching to back carry
Neck rest stays safely folded down when baby faces out
Leg straps provide extra security for the smallest babies (under 4.5 kg / 10 lbs)
When they rest, sit or sleep
Safety latch on the height adjuster keeps the bouncer locked in the right position
The centre-fold design helps prevent even the wriggliest little ones from accidentally collapsing our travel cots
Adjustable dials ensure our toilet training seat can be attached safely to most toilets
Non-slip bases keep our step stool, booster seat and potties in place
The curved leg design of our Baby Crib and bouncers is engineered for improved stability
The Travel Cot Light mattress attaches directly to the frame, helping to keep the sleeping surface flat and stable
Built-in stoppers prevent the Baby Crib base from sliding up or down on the legs
Mesh panels in our cradles, cots and cribs provide airflow and visibility
Safety is personal

Before labs, standards and certifications, safety was tested much closer to home. Our founder, Björn Jakobson, tested early designs with his own small quality control inspectors — his own children — to observe real movement and behaviour. Today, that mindset lives on. Every product is tested over and over again, not because we love repetition, but because your baby’s safety is the whole point. Always has been. And always will be.
We don’t test solely in ideal conditions. For recent products, more than 400 families have taken part in real-life testing — because that's when safety truly matters.
Good enough isn’t enough.
To test durability, EU standards require baby carriers to undergo 50,000 repeated movements with a 15 kg weight load. We test for 75,000 — for extra reassurance, they withstand real life, again and again. Our Step Stool is tested to hold 55 kg, 500 times, supporting years of everyday use.
Our 30+ machines run for thousands of hours, testing...
Durability, strength and stability
Resistance to UV light and humidity
Fabric pilling (those little bobbles), colour fastness and wear
Mechanical function
Strict chemical compliance
Transport durability
...to make sure everything is as it should be before it reaches you
We don’t just comply. We improve.

Standards aren’t paperwork. They’re shared knowledge built from research, testing and real-world learning. Alongside other industry experts, we help shape them, improving safety beyond our own products. We contribute to the European Committee for Standardization, CEN, and to ASTM International, where Carla Nooijen, our Product Safety & Compliance Specialist, leads the task group on airflow and breathability.
Certified materials, backed by global standards
Safe for curious mouths.
Many of our fabrics are developed in-house, to ensure high quality. For close-to-skin products, we certify to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Class 1 or bluesign® Grade A — free from harmful levels of substances, and yes, even safe to taste.
Food-safe plastics, made for everyday use.
Kitchen products are PVC-free, BPA-free, and made from food-safe materials.
Safer air. Safer sleep.
Our Baby Crib meets GREENGUARD low-emission standards, and complies with relevant safety standards such as ASTM and CEN.
Let’s bring safety home
As we keep improving our products based on everyday use, knowing how to use them safely at home matters too. You don’t need to become an expert. Just understand how they work, feel confident using them, and let safety settle naturally into everyday life.
For example, when babywearing, did you know a kiss on the forehead is one of the best safety checks? And as your baby grows, remember to adjust for the right fit — whether that’s using the correct height setting in a bouncer or the newborn setting in a carrier.
